All atheists must believe in Aliens?
Life is just an accident. Just a combination of chemicals and right conditions that evolved over time to human beings. Such as water+oxygen+other elements.
Lets say the chance of occurrence of the right conditions is very rare. No wonder there is no life in other planets.
But there are trillions and trillions of stars and each star has many planets. Surely whatever chance that brought forth life on this planet must also have happened to take place in some distant planet. Not one but many planets, because of the countless number of such planets.
Now, surely just as evolution on earth has taken place, some sort of evolution must have taken place too.
Therefore atheists must believe in aliens.
@skeptic123
You are wrong, I never said that water is an element. I said "water+oxygen+other elements and not "other elements like water, oxygen"
I do know that the chemical formula of water is H2O and that it is formed due to a chemical reaction between Hydrogen and Oxygen. I typed down the whole thing in less than a minute. Expect grammatical and other issues with my post. But if it took you only that small an error from my side to stop from reading further then kudos to your narrow mindedness. If you have logic in you, argue with that. If you are too dumb to overlook a few typos, then God help you! (pun intended)

No, sorry.
An atheist is a person that believes there is no God. The definition goes no farther.

No, atheism is lack of belief in a god(s). Why must we explain this to everyone?
Pyro- The Logical Atheist | Dec 10, 2009
Yes.
Yopiedrota | Dec 10, 2009
In that context, yes, I accept that aliens probably exist somewhere out in the universe.
Caboose | Dec 10, 2009
Basically, all sane people believe in extra-terrestrial life.
Rico Susave | Dec 10, 2009
that’s what I believe but there are such thing as ignorant atheists also.
Smithy | Dec 10, 2009
Not all atheists believe in science, logic, and reason. (Although most of them do).
Case in point: look at the nutjobs in the astrology section.
The Blunt Ugly Truth | Dec 10, 2009
Belief in god is irrelevent to the belief in aliens, unless your religious doctrine forbids belief in aliens.

No. You need to find the probability of life occuring in a place, and how many planets are out there, to determine if it’s probable. However, we’d say it’s pretty close to 0, and there’s no evidence to support the existence of aliens. It’s possible, but we won’t believe it because of lack of evidence, much like God.
Don't Take Me Seriously | Dec 10, 2009
I’ll believe in the existence of aliens when they land on the White House lawn or we find evidence of them in space.
"Life is just an accident."
…No… Wrong… No one ever claimed that this was all accidental, that life just "poofed" into existence. Abiogenesis and evolution are very complex concepts, and just because you can’t understand them right now doesn’t mean that they’re silly or any less valid.
Rogelio / Stoked for Chreesmahs! | Dec 10, 2009
I personally believe there’s a possibility for there to be life elsewhere in the universe. However I am only aware of what I know now, and I don’t believe there are with confidence. However I am open to the idea.
Alex | Dec 10, 2009
You are using deduction, not logic. There is no evidence that aliens exist.
lissalu | Dec 10, 2009
If you replace the last sentence with "Therefore, some atheists believe that the existence of aliens is a definite possibility", it’d be a great question.
Artemis Goldfish | Dec 10, 2009
I wouldn’t say that atheists must "believe" in aliens.
I would say that atheists with a sufficient understanding of statistics and abiogenesis would almost certainly be forced to conclude that the odds of life *not* existing elsewhere are too insignificant to be seriously considered.
But they don’t necessarily have to.

Myth: All atheists think that when they die they will just die.
Fact: All atheists thinks that their is a heaven and hell or a afterlife.
Myth: atheists must believe in aliens.
Fact: There is another planet with life.

There may be life somewhere in huge huge space.
Atheist.
PlusSize Angel of Beauty& Purity | Dec 10, 2009
Yes they must do, but some will deny it..
At the same time the atheist who believes in aliens also believes that a God cannot exist no matter how distant this God may be, I find this a biased approach of thinking..
Or more to the point ignorance..
Frizby | Dec 10, 2009
aliens exist, but they have never made any contact with the human species. the so called aliens have faces which a species that hadn’t either been made up by man or hadn’t evolved on earth wouldn’t have simply because a face is an earth based evolutionary artifact.

You know, whenever I see a question that has the words "all", "must" and/or "always" in it I expect the worst.
Thanks for delivering on expectations. Theres comfort in getting what I expect.
jl | Dec 10, 2009
a fair argument, I agree there most probably are aliens out there in the universe.
But until they turn up evidence, I don’t know they are out there, I just think its a high probability that they are
numbnuts222 | Dec 10, 2009
I stopped reading once I hit this "Such as water+oxygen+other elements."
water is a compound not an element.
It’s clear you’re trying to argue Science when you don’t know the basics of it.
That’s like a Priest trying to give a sermon who hasn’t read a single word of his holy book nor attended a single religious event in his life.
Skeptic123 | Dec 10, 2009
According to probability there could be extraterritorial life forms, however there haven’t been any evidence to prove that there are life on other planets.
Also, to claim that all atheists must believe in aliens is going a bit too far.
Its the same as me claiming that all Christians must believe that Jesus is God.
ducky 693 | Dec 10, 2009
I think that the likelihood of life on other planets out there in the Universe is enormous. As you said, there are trillions of solar systems out there, and the chances that we are the only ones are infinitesimally small.
What about you? Do you believe in life on other planets? You sure made a good case for it.
Lady Morgana | Dec 10, 2009
but we dont have any idea how likely life is to form
its certainly possible that life existes elsehwere but we just dont know.
its not true that atheists MUST believe in aliens
GodBlessAtheism | Dec 10, 2009
why MUST we believe in aliens? what if the origin of life on Earth was such an improbable event, even all those trillions of possible worlds doesn’t provide enough flips of the coin?
i do not believe in the existence of aliens. i honestly do not know one way or the other. you might call me an agnostic when it comes to aliens. i don’t think the origin of life was that improbable i think life probably has evolved on other planets, or maybe it has not. we just don’t know.
